It’s Been a While

It’s Been a While

No, I haven’t gone back to 1996 and started listening to Staind – it has really been a while. 5 months to be exact. I’d love to give you a totally out there excuse for being MIA for the last while. The truth is, I’ve just been living life and being a Mum.

There is no such thing as downtime these days and despite trying to write this for 3 days, it’s most likely going to take another 3 before I finally get it on t’internet.

So, where have I been? Well, being a Mum has meant the last few months have gone faster than I care to admit. Days just seem to blur into each other, weeks fly by and, before I know it, a new month has begun.

Ellie is going to be a year old in just over a month. I am utterly bewildered at where the last 12 months have gone. She no longer sleeps all day and looks at me with a confused stare. Now, she sleeps all night (sorry, I’m not bragging), crawls around the house like a mouse on speed and is emptying bags, cupboards and playing with anything that is not a toy.

It is the most tiring and wonderful thing I have ever done in all my life. I can’t actually remember the last time I just sat down and watched a TV programme. You know when you just forget everything and watch what’s in front of you? Well, I no longer do that. It usually takes me about and hour and a half just to watch one half hour episode of Emmerdale. Wouldn’t change it for the world, though.

As well as the stresses of being a Mum, I decided I’d add to it by moving house. Now, I lived in a new build house that was stylish, cool and totally not child friendly. It was also too small. Within about 3 months of Ellie being born, we were already bursting at the seams.

So, fast forward a few months and we moved ourselves into a 40 plus year old house that needed everything. New kitchen, plastering, carpets… The list goes on.

We have now been here for 4 months and we are only now seeing light at the end of the tunnel and a huge dent in our money pot! It has been one of, if not thee, most stressful things I have ever done. I am never moving again!

So, you’re probably able to see now why I as good as disappeared off the blogosphere. Phew!

A few months ago I also decided it was time to go back to work. Sadly, my flexible working application was rejected and, to add to my stress, I had no idea what to do. Anxiety kicked in and it honestly felt like the end of the bloody world!

Everything happens for a reason though, right? Too true. I am now working in social media for a brilliant fitness company and I can honestly say I love my job. I haven’t felt that way about work for a very long time. Working between the office and home makes things so much easier and I can continue to watch my girl grow and develop without the worry of missing the special moments.

I also have the job that I have wanted and worked towards for quite a long time.

All in all, things are pretty good. Very busy, but good. I’m not going to make promises of posts and tell you what’s coming up in the next few weeks. In all honesty, I have no clue. I am going to make a conscious effort to post more as I don’t want L&L to fall by the wayside.

I suppose you’ll just need to watch this space…

Until next time.
