Happy New Year. We’re three days into 2016, how many resolutions have you broken already? A few I’m sure.
Last year I wrote a post about resolutions and made my opinion on them pretty clear. I’ve never made them and don’t believe in them. Why? Well, simply because life is not about yearly change, it’s about building on what we have and getting rid of what isn’t working. Some people might say that that’s a very ruthless way of thinking but, I think it’s more honest than trying to constantly change yourself and feel let down when it doesn’t work out.
2015 was an up and down year for both me and Lipstick and Loathing. After a difficult few months and some major decision making, I gave up what I thought was going to be a career for life. After almost 7 years, I made the difficult decision that being a police officer was no longer for me. As much as I will miss certain parts and people from my time, there are many more things I will not miss in the slightest.
I have been asked countless times why I would want to give up my job and have listened to people saying that it must have taken ‘balls’ to make that decision. I don’t see it that way, I see it as making a change for the better and an opportunity to improve my life. I wasn’t going to wait for new year to do that…
So what does this year hold? For Lipstick and Loathing it’s all positive. With an amazing gift from my husband, I will be ensuring that I’m more organised and posting on a regular basis. I hope to continue writing about all the things I love and loathe as well as listening to what you, the reader, wants.
On a personal front, it’s a work in progress. I want to take the time to put my plan into action and get what I want on the job front. I’m also hoping to try my hand at writing a book. This is something I’ve always wanted to do. Now that I have more time, it seems only right I start now.
So, there will be no new year, new me on this blog. Sorry to disappoint. Instead, as always, I’ll be keeping it real, saying it as it is and keeping you all entertained. I hope!
Here’s to 2016, Happy New Year!
Until next time…
